Obituary of John Robert Albrecht Kelly
John Robert Albrecht "Bob" Kelly, born December 3, 1927 in Minneapolis and passed away November 2, 2015 in Edina, MN. He was preceded in death by parents Jack and Carol by son, Dan and wife Marguerite (Pep). He is survived by daughters, Karen Kelly Bridston, (Peter) and Megan Kelly (Jim Smart) and grandson Jack. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Kelly and cousin, Joan Kelly. Bob attended West High School in Minneapolis. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in business from U of MN. Bob worked as a banker initially and then became a stockbroker. He was an avid gardener, researcher of Irish genealogy, sang in the barbershop quartet, and volunteered for many organizations along with attending to friends and families who needed personal care. He served as a Captain in the Army in the end of World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also was a Sergeant in the Marines in the Korean War. He was an exceptionally, kind, loving, patient, and thoughtful father and friend. A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 6 in the chapel at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2914 W. 44th St., Minneapolis 55410. With a visitation at 10 am, mass at 11 am.
