Obituary of Kermit T. Piltingsrud

Piltingsrud, Kermit T. Age 98, passed away November 7, 2015. Preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Henry, his wife Marguerite, his brother Victor, and his sister Evelyn (Samuel) Dibert. Survived by his daughter Ann (Martin) Oyen, his grandsons Joel and Matthew (Jennifer) Oyen, great grandchildren Carter and Mara Oyen, plus nieces, nephews and many friends. After serving with the US Army Red Bulls in Italy during World War II, Kermit returned home to become a vocational rehabilitation counselor, first in Fargo for the state of North Dakota and then in Des Moines for the state of Iowa. In 2011 he moved to Augustana Homes in Minneapolis in order to be closer to family. Wherever he lived, he sought to contribute to church and community activities --- Lions, garden club, Bible study, and especially singing groups. As one of God's children, he always found a place in the choir. Memorial service Friday, November 20, 1 pm, Augustana Care Center Chapel, 1007 East 14th Street, 612-238-5101. A second service will follow this spring at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church in Des Moines Iowa.
