Obituary of Wilma Enger

Wilma Dessie Enger passed away in Osakis, Minnesota on November 10, 2015. A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 14 at 2 pm at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Osakis with Pastor Lindell Quam officiating. Wilma was born March 11, 1927 in Guelph, North Dakota to John and Essie Schwarting. Wilma's twin brother, Willard, was born immediately after her. They grew up in Guelph and graduated from high school in May, 1945. Wilma went to college that summer to get her emergency certificate to teach in a ND country school. She taught in a country school one year, then in Guelph in the lower grades for a year. She then returned to college, receiving her standard normal teaching certificate. She began a remedial reading program in the Aberdeen Public School in 1948. On June 15, 1949 Wilma married Don Enger. They lived in Ellendale, ND where she taught second grade while Don attended college. On April 18, 1951, their son, Lee, was born. Don graduated from college in May that year and began his teaching career. From that point on, Wilma directed her teaching to her own children and to Sunday School and women's Bible studies. She loved keeping house, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, and mothering their four children, Lee, Lizabeth, Lin and Leif. Wilma's main goal in life was to have a godly family. She and Don were Christians committed to living in obedience to Jesus Christ and to raising godly children. who all committed their lives to the Lord. Wilma is survived by her husband, Don, their four children, Lee and Rhonda Enger of Ft. Collins, CO, Lizabeth and Michael Towers of Crosby, MN, Lin and Kathy Enger of Moorhead, MN, and Leif and Robin Enger of Aitkin, MN, nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
