Obituary of Shirley A. Herzig

Herzig, Shirley "Shirl" (Hunt) Age 76, of Minnetonka, passed away Saturday Nov. 14, 2015 of frontotemporal dementia. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dave; sons Patrick (Kristin), Chris, and Jon (Tanja); grandchildren Grace and Emma; sisters Pat (Skip) North and Donna Hunt; brother Wayne (Denise) Hunt; nieces Pam and Anne; nephews David, Michael, Brian and Todd. Preceded in death by her parents Donald and Rose Hunt, and nephew Jeffrey Smetak. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and teacher. Shirl taught 2nd grade for 28 years at Minnetonka schools where she became known as 'Mrs. Honeybunny' by her students. She enjoyed crafts, chocolate, fall weather, and shopping. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday Nov. 21 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 13505 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka. A memorial gathering is one hour before mass, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Groveland Elementary School, 17310 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka MN 55345.
