Dolores Sparboe “Dodie” Du Toit
Age 88, of Shorewood, died November 16, 2015. Born to Anthony B. and Irene Sparboe on April 7, 1927. Dodie grew up in Interlachen Park, Hopkins, and attended West High School and Mount Holyoke College. She was a long-time resident of the Excelsior area. Dodie was active with the Junior League of Minneapolis and the Auxiliaries of Northwestern and Abbott-Northwestern Hospitals. As president of the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital Auxiliary, she served on the hospital board. An avid Gopher Football supporter, she had season tickets for 60 years (from the goalpost to the 50 yard line). Dodie enjoyed Fourth of July picnics, the Delano parade, and New Year’s Eve with her Dinner Club friends. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Michael Foster and Stephen James Michael; stepchildren, Bridget (David) Strootman, Fred DuToit, David Beson and Billy Beson; 6 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-granchildren. Predeceased by her husbands, George A. Du Toit, III and Everett E. Beson; sister, Diane Sparboe. The family would like to thank Dr. Katherine Ragen, her caregivers, and Susie’s Allina Hospice Team. Memorial service 2 PM Tuesday, November 24 at Excelsior Covenant Church, 19955 Excelsior Blvd., Excelsior. Visitation 1 PM.
