Obituary of Genevieve Marie Spanton
Genevieve Marie Spanton, age 102, of Minneapolis, passed away November 19, 2015. Preceded in death by her parents Otto and Bernadine Bieker, three brothers, one sister, and her beloved husband, Paul. Gen was born and raised in Earling, Iowa, and married Paul in 1942. After Paul returned from WWII, they made homes in Wyoming and Nebraska before Paul’s career in Naval Air brought them to Mpls in 1958. Gen loved being a Navy wife, and also her own career as a baker in Mpls public schools, from 1961 to 1973. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, and a kind and generous hostess to all who visited. Gen is survived by her sister Leone, daughter Paula and son-in-law Milt, grandchildren Rob (Kelly), Jennifer (Jason), and Susan (Jeremy), and seven wonderful great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Ave. So., Mpls., at 11 am on Wednesday Nov. 25th. Visitation one hour before. Private interment at Fort Snelling Natl. Cem. Special thanks to the loving care givers at St. Therese SW and St. Croix hospice, as well as Sr. Martha and Br. Kevin from Holy Rosary Church, and all others who honored her with their visits over the years.
