Obituary of LeRoy Earl Gorder
LeRoy Earl Gorder, 71, passed away on Nov. 24, 2015 after a courageous battle with Amyloidosis, a rare protein deposition disease.
Lee was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Duluth, Minn. to Evelyn and Earl Gorder, graduating from Proctor High School in 1961, after which he enlisted in the Army and served for nine years. He was stationed in Potsdam, Germany in a border patrol unit participating in many daring Top Secret reconnaissance missions.
In 1970 Lee was married briefly to Laura Hartwig and they had a son together, Lee Edward Gorder.
In 1977 he met the love of his life Ida Knoblock, and his life was changed forever.
Lee worked many years at Arrowhead Outdoor then retired from the City of Duluth's road maintenance crew in 2004. Lee loved fishing and gardening and was known as the John Deere go-to guy.
He was preceded in death by his father Earl Gorder and his sister Charlene Kelly.
He is survived by his wife Ida; daughter Michelle (Paul) Ryan; son Lee (Kari) Gorder; mother Evelyn Lepley; brother Albert (Joanne) Gorder; brother-in-law Tom Kelly; two nieces,Tami and Jodi; and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Bobbie Lee.
Lee will be forever missed.
