Obituary of Orvin Hastad

Orvin (Orv) S. Hastad, age 60, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on the evening of December 1, 2015. Orv was born on February 26, 1955 in Grand Rapids, ND. In his adult life he lived in many cities throughout northern Minnesota such as Duluth, Grand Rapids and Bovey. He settled with his family on North Long Lake in Merrifield 20 years ago. Proceeded in death by his father, Ovin Hastad and mother, Silvia Hastad (Voiss). Survived by his wife, Shari Hastad (Lindgren), daughter, Halee Hastad, 22, and son, Christian Hastad, 19. Orv was the proud owner of Natureway Foods, located in Brainerd and St. Cloud, for more than a decade. He was an avid outdoorsman and dedicated Master Gardener for the State of Minnesota who enjoyed nothing less than the finer things in life. His sense of humor may have been his most memorable quality. Services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene (no affiliation), 21704 Co. Rd 3, Merrifield, MN 56465, on Tuesday, December 8 at 2:00pm. Family, friends and community members are welcome. May the longtime sun shine forever upon Orv and the pure light within him guide his way on.
