Obituary of Calvin M. Lien

Lien, Calvin M. Age 89, of Edina died on December 2, 2015. He was born in Wyndmere, ND on December 10, 1925. Preceded in death by parents, Arnold and Helen Lien and son-in-law, Steven J. Hartmann. Cal owned and operated Lien's Hardware in Wyndmere, ND for many years following his discharge from the U.S. Naval Service during WWII. He retired in 1987 and moved to Fargo, ND where he and his wife, Rose Marie (Tisdel) lived until 2003 when they moved to Eden Prairie, MN. He is survived by Rose Marie, his loving wife of 67 years and daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) Hartmann of Bloomington, MN. Cal was an avid reader and great conversationalist. He was friendly and outgoing and quickly adapted to new surroundings. In his hardware store he solved problems that extended beyond hardware. People always wanted to talk to him and get his advice on many topics. He made an impact wherever he went, and he will be missed by all who knew him. A special thanks to his caregivers at Brookdale Edina for providing such wonderful care over the past couple of years. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
