Grayden, Edward B. age 90, passed away December 3, 2015 at home in Plymouth, Minnesota. Born on July 12, 1925 in Duluth, Minnesota, Ed graduated from Duluth Central High School and, at age 17, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served from 1942-1946, primarily in the South Pacific in the First Marine Division, and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. He returned to Duluth and began studies at the University of Minnesota where he earned his bachelor degree with a double major in physics and theater. He married Katharine Snarich in 1947 and started a career that included radio announcer, electrical engineer, and manufacturer's rep. Following Katie's death, he earned a masters degree in creative writing from Hamline University and published several books of short stories and poetry. He married Cleo Issendorf in 2007. Ed enjoyed fishing, flying, skiing, activities with his many friends, and visits with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Stella and Mike Grozdanich; brother Hugo, and wife Katie, Ed is survived by his wife, Cleo; three sons, Ed (Mary), Joe (Jean Wilhelm), and Tom (Michelle); grandchildren, Nick, Sarah, Katie, and John; and long-time colleague and friend, Dean Laurance. Ed will continue his journey through the stars with his pal, Chief Wildwind, telling stories and perfecting his fine art of embellishment. At Ed's request, a private military service will be held at Fort Snelling. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Wayzata American Legion Post 118 or Augustana Open Circle, Hopkins, Minnesota.
