Obituary of Jimmie Lee Keelin

Jimmie Lee Keelin, age 83, of Burnsville, passed away December 8, 2015 at Ecumen Seasons of Apple Valley, surrounded by family. Jimmie was born in Iroquois, South Dakota, to Lyle and Louise (Bensley) Keelin. He spent his childhood in Huron, South Dakota. He entered the army upon graduating from high school. He began his life as a teacher in Elmore, and went on to teach at Portland Junior High and Lincoln High School in Bloomington where he also served as Athletic Coordinator and football coach. He continued his career as Athletic Director and then teacher at Burnsville High School where he also coached multiple sports. Jimmie was happiest when spending time with family, being active outdoors, coaching, working on projects, and especially spending time at his cabin. He was also an avid sports enthusiast and dog lover. Throughout his life, he consistently demonstrated his strong Christian faith. Jimmie is survived by loving wife of 64 years Ann (Lewallen) Keelin; children, Rae Ann Pelinka (Jim) of Prior Lake, Jody Keelin of Akeley, Jamie Keelin (Dawn) of Burnsville, Joni Bush (Jim) of Forest Lake; nine grandchildren, Travis (Sarah), Jeremy (Missy Faue), Nathan (Ale), Brandon (Andi Johnson) Pelinka, Abby and Katie Keelin, Jacob, Dylan, Kelli Bush; three great grandchildren, Poppy and Holiday Pelinka, and Ryker Pelinka; sister, Doris Smith (Pat Smith). Preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Louise Keelin and brother, Dale. The family would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Ecumen Seasons and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care of Jimmie. Memorial Service will be 11 am Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9-11 am.
