Obituary of Delbert J. Hall

Delbert J. Hall Age 72, of Bloomington and Aurora, Minn., passed away on December 20, 2015. Born June 20, 1943, to Angeline and Rex Hall, his widowed mother raised him and two younger sisters in Aurora, Minn., where he became a state champion swimmer and graduated from high school in 1961. Del put himself through college, earning a degree in architecture from the University of Minnesota. He was fervent and principled, loved to argue a point, and made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He married Jean Deighton (Stockholm) in 1966 and they had two children whom he raised after their divorce in 1974. The original DIY man, he loved to fix cars, or anything around the house. A self made and selfless man, Del showed his love by his actions. In the 1980’s he met Billie Jean Serson, with whom he lived for many years in Bloomington. He was an active member of the American Institute of Architecture. In his 40’s, he developed multiple sclerosis, yet refused to let it compromise his life or his sense of humor, even until the end. Preceded in death by his mother, Angline D. Matts. Survived by his life partner, Billie Jean Serson; former wife, Jean Deighton (Darrell Breider); sisters, Rexanne Lepisto and Vicki Hall; daughter, Becky Oesch (Christian); son, Jefrey Hall-Flavin (Daniel); loving grandchildren, Bettina and Chase Oesch; and many lifelong friends.
