Scot Zimmerman

Obituary of Scot Zimmerman

Scot Zimmerman, 63, passed away at Methodist Hospital on May 18, 2018 of cardiac failure. Raised in Redwood Falls, MN by Tony and Donna Zimmerman he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in the class of 1980 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later attended the Carlson School of Management, where he met his wife of 32 years, obtaining an MBA in 1987. He was a dedicated member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He married Elaine Koyama August 31st, 1985, stayed together through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, and had three children. Scot worked at Hughes Aircraft, Honeywell, and MTS Systems. While at MTS he implemented their CRM system, and he found his passion. He spread the word about CRM, and focused on technology, family, and his personal business Interlinx Associates. While he had a nearly unerring focus on technology and systems, he could be pulled away for family. For every sporting event, every activity, he tried to be the coach for his kids’ team even when he knew nothing about the sport. Barring that, he was there to cheer them on. A committed Gophers fan, he and his Frat brothers had season tickets for Gopher Football. He made sure to keep his family involved. Though there were only two tickets, we all enjoyed the tailgates. Dedicated to his work, he never took a break, even on vacation. While organizing what would become a thirty year tradition of a family bowling tournament, he also worked on business. He set up and maintained a tournament for the family, ensuring that there was an easy event for new family to be introduced. Even in retirement, he continued working nonstop. To his final day he was still making deals and honoring commitments. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Minneapolis Woman's Club on May 25th at 3:30 PM to remember a life long Gophers fan. He is survived by his loving family--his wife Elaine Koyama, sons Tom (Paige Ties) and Lee, daughter Maiya (Tony) Strouth, grandsons Everett and Silas. Also survived by his mother Donna and sisters Dawn (Jo) and Sherry (Jim) Becker. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Scot Zimmerman, PO Box 21, Miltona MN 56354, or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the Staff of the Methodist Hospital for all that they did.
