Obituary of William E. Swartz

William E. Swartz Born Nov. 22, 1919 in Sheridan, WY to Grover & Alice Swartz. Lived & attended schools in MT graduating (BA in journalism) U. of Missoula, MT. Enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp, l942, flew 35 combat missions in WWII & 75 missions in the Berlin Airlift. His Air Force career of 24 years took him to Maine (base commander), Taiwan (advisor), Colorado (integration officer), & the Pentagon (advisor). After retiring as a colonel in 1967, he worked in real estate 14 years. Enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading & writing family history, & being church historian for 24 years. His marriage to Deloris Debner in l946 endured 67 years until her passing, 2013. William's parents & brother also preceded him in death. He is survived by 2 daughters & their spouses, 5 grandchildren & 1 great-grandson. Memorial service 10:30am, Sat., Jan. 30, St. Mark's UCC, 8630 Xerxes Ave., S., Bloomington. Interment Fort Snelling, Feb. 1.
