Michael Meier

Obituary of Michael Charles Meier

Michael Charles Meier, 60, of Duluth, died unexpectedly at work on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015. He was employed by BNSF railroad for 41 years and was a third generation bridge operator at the "Grassy Point" draw bridge. Michael was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Proctor High School. He inherited the love of music from his father and had a passion for all things guitar. Michael would be described as a gentle soul with a fascination and appreciation of life that most adults leave behind in childhood. He always wanted to be part of the action just not be the action. We can honor Michael's memory by helping others less fortunate. Preceded in death by his father Morris "Mike" Meier. Survived by his mother Dolores Meier; brother Mark (Lonnie) Meier; sisters Mary (Keith) Carlson, Marcia (Mike) Bauman, Melanie (Ty) Meier; nephews and niece Matthew (Jamie) Monette, William and Michaela Bauman and fiance Laureen Burgraff. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, until the 2 p.m. service in Elim Lutheran Church.
