Obituary of Ted A. Nemzek
Nemzek, Ted A. Age 89 of Bloomington, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 5, 2018. Ted was born to John and Nora (Peterson) Nemzek on September 26, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and 7 of his 11 siblings. Survived by daughter Heather, sons Scott and Tim (Karen), grandchildren Lauren, Ashley, Eric and Matthew Hellstrom, Lindsay (Brad) Heagle and Rachel Nemzek, great grandchildren Teddy Hellstrom and Alexander Heagle, sisters Margaret Bekkerus, Joanne Carlson, Jackie Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Ted was a decorated veteran of the Korean war who was awarded the bronze star. After his service he was a high school teacher and mayor of Cannon Falls, MN followed by a long successful career in sales. He was a passionate volunteer who gave generously of his time to the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle squad (the Friday squad), The Learning Exchange and The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation where he made many dear friends. Ted served his fellow veterans on the rifle squad for 20 years, during which time he participated in over 10,000 funerals. He was a Kare 11 "Eleven Who Care" honoree in 2006. Ted was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21st at 11:00 am at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation, Wooddale Church, the Fort Snelling Rifle Squad or the Learning Exchange.
