Obituary of Walter Morris Mattson

Walter Morris Mattson, 85, died Jan. 1, 2016 in Esko. He was born on Nov. 11, 1930 in New York Mills, Minn. Walter was married to Beverly Dandanell on Oct. 18, 1952 in Duluth. They celebrated 63 years together. He was employed by Proctor School District and retired in 1994. He was preceded in death by parents John and Hilma Mattson; sisters Jenny (John) Baasola and Florence (Elton) Smith; brother William Mattson. Walter is survived by his children Rodney (Julia) Mattson, Janet Mattson, Karen (Dennis) Unger, Larry Mattson; sister Annie (Reggie) Anderson and brother Henry Mattson; grandchildren Lindsay Mattson, Lori Mattson, Harrison Klobuchar and Matthew Klobuchar, great-granddaughter Alexandria Hewitt; several nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan 7, 2016 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, with a visitation one hour prior.
