Obituary of Richard Waldo Brust

Brust, Richard Waldo age 93, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully January 3, 2016 with his family around him. Preceded in death by his parents Anna and Waldo Brust, and sister Virginia Peirson. Survived by his dear wife of 67 years, Joan; five children John, Suzanne (John Shepard), Rick, Nan Michaud (Mike), and Barbara; five grandchildren: Drew, Mikael, Anna, Nat, and Charlie; two great grandchildren: Gigi and Mason; and a dear nephew, cousins, and many friends. As a 40-year employee of 3M, Dick started and became Corporate VP of the Tax Division. He grew up in New Richmond Wisconsin, earned an accounting degree from UW Madison and a JD from William Mitchell. He was a golfer, hunter, and avid collector of duck decoys, a Shriner, and was President of the National Tax Association from 1986-87. Dad made connections with people wherever he went. He loved leading his family in multi-part harmonies, and led a full and wonderful life. We'll do our best to carry your melody, Dad. Our heartfelt thanks to his Allina Hospice team and caregivers at the Episcopal Homes. A celebration of Dick's life will be held June 4th at the Falcon Heights Church-UCC. Memorials in Dick's memory can be sent to Falcon Heights Church-UCC or the Union Gospel Mission.
