Obituary of Robert Laurence Dauplaise

Robert "Bob" Laurence Dauplaise, 80, a Superior native, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2016 at Essentia Duluth. Born in Superior on September 3, 1935, Bob attended Superior Central High School and upon graduating in 1953, set out as an oiler, sailing the Great Lakes. He later worked in manufacturing at Lidgerwood-Mundy. In 1965, he entered into joint ownership and management of the Prime Steer Supper Club in Allouez. In 1967, Dauplaise acquired the Black Steer Steak House in Duluth. Dauplaise, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing, retired from the restaurant business in 1982, yet remained involved with commercial property and local entrepreneurial investments. Dauplaise is survived by his loving children, Jon Robert Dauplaise, Duluth, and Dr. Jean-Marie Dauplaise, Dallas, Texas, three grandsons, Brandon Channel, Duluth, Travis Dauplaise and Austin Dauplaise, Proctor, MN, his life-partner, Ruth Springer, Superior, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. He is remembered fondly by additional family and friends alike. A memorial gathering and celebration of Bob's life will be held April 30, 2016, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Aces on 29th, 2827 Oakes Ave., Superior, Wisconsin.
