Obituary of Richard M. Sims

Richard M. Sims “Dick,” age 83, of Eden Prairie, passed away on January 8, 2016 at the Minneapolis Veteran’s Home from a combination of Alzheimer’s Disease, cancer and diabetes. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Janet Moore and niece, Kimberly Raye. Survived by wife of 24 years, Dawn “Ginger;” step-children: Wendy Anderson, Wane (Jane) Anderson, Wanda (Bob) Kauffman and Juanita Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; God child, Alesha Cain; cousin, Edmond (Ginny) Rice; two great-nephews and other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the caregivers in building 19, floor 4, at the Minneapolis Veteran’s Home, for their love and devotion to Dick. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Minneapolis Veteran’s Home, 5101 Minnehaha Avenue, Building 19, Mpls., MN 55417. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Family Council at the Veteran’s Home or charity of donor’s choice.
