Obituary of Dana Allen Hanson

Dana Allen Hanson, 43, of Two Harbors passed away Jan. 9, 2016 at Lake View Hospital with his loving family and devoted caregivers by his side. Dana was born on Oct. 2, 1972 to Gerald Hanson (deceased) and Rochelle Hanson (Giddings). Dana was born with cerebral palsy and in 1974 the Hanson family moved to Cloquet so Dana could attend Pinewood Learning Center. Although Dana had many physical and health challenges, he remained under the loving care of Gerald and Rochelle in their home for a majority of his life. Most recently, as a resident of Two Harbors, Dana was attending Lake County DAC. Dana was an unforgettable young man. Friends and family will remember Dana for his happiness, kind spirit, smile, and strong vocal content. Dana was valued by many but few people connected more with Dana than his loving father Gerald. Dana and Gerald were inseparable and hold fast in their faith of being together again. Dana is survived by his caring mother, Rochelle Hanson; sister and brother-in-law Machelle and Alan Lampela of Two Harbors; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Diana Hanson of Tustin, Calif.; along with nieces and nephews. Dana was blessed to have a special relationship of 20 years with his loving foster parents, Michael and Claire of South Harbor AFC. The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at Lake View Hospital for the care they provided Dana in his final days and the years of love and kindness from the staff at South Harbor AFC. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 until the 1:30 p.m. memorial service in the Cremation Society of MN, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. Coffee and refreshments to follow.
