Obituary of Thomas James Zempel

Thomas James Zempel, 66, entered into eternal peace on his birthday, Jan. 10, 2016. Tommy was the youngest son of the late Wallace and Lillian (Smith) Zempel. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Denfeld High School. Tom was a mariner and spent his working adult life sailing the Great Lakes for numerous shipping companies. Tom was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed wintering in Las Vegas and driving his Cadillac. Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, David Zempel; nephew, Robert (Bobby) Nesgoda; brothers-in-law, Richard Hall and William Newsted. Tom is survived in the loving hearts of son, Klane Mullen; grandson, Kyden Mullen; brothers, Michael (Jan) Zempel, Joseph (Jane) Zempel; sisters, Mary Hall, Kathleen Newsted, Patricia Zempel; numerous nephews and nieces, friends and his dog, Joey. A memorial Mass and burial will take place in June.
