Obituary of Kevin Leo Moynihan
Moynihan, Kevin Leo, age 69 of Apple Valley, passed peacefully on January 10, 2016. Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bernice Moynihan. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary, sons Patrick (Rosa), Brian (Katie), Sean (Kali), and daughter Erin (Chrissy), sister Marilyn, grandchildren Taylor, Angelinna, Molly, Grayson, Kellen, and Brynn, sister-in-law Cathy O’Meara (Bob), brothers-in-law Jim O’Meara (Lu) and Tom O’Meara (Beth), nieces, grandnieces and nephews. Kevin’s loving nature, sense of humor, and pride for his children and grandchildren will remain forever in our hearts. He loved to coach youth athletics, talk sports, politics (at length), and spend time with his family here and in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Infantry Regiment as a Sergeant on C Company’s 3rd Platoon LRRP team. He was awarded multiple medals and commendations including the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 16 at Mary Mother of the Church, 3333 Cliff Road, Burnsville MN 55337. Visitation will be 9:30 – 11AM with luncheon to follow the service. Internment at Fort Snelling will follow at a later date.
