Dorothy Reischel

Obituary of Dorothy Reischel

Dorothy (Swingley) Reischel Reischel, Dorothy (Swingley) Dorothy left us on May 21, 2018, but as she made quite clear, "don't tell anyone that you lost your Mother. I am not lost, I am in Heaven." Dorothy will be remembered as a devout Christian who was known to pick up a stranger and bring them home for dinner. The dinner table nearly always had extra places set for company. She was very active in student exchange programs and many of the students became a part of the family. While wait-ressing at the Town Talk Diner in Minneapolis she met her first husband, Albert Swingley. Al & Dorothy were married in 1949, and raised eight children. Valerie (Steven), Michael, Claudia (David), Stephen, Joseph, Jenifer, Christopher (Jean), and Elizabeth. Al passed away in 1998. A few years later while on a blind date, she met and eventually married Bill Reischel. They made many new memories together traveling between homes in Minnesota and Arizona. Dorothy was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many wonderful relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Lou & John Miller, her brother Jack, her son Michael and her two loving spouses Albert and Bill. Please join us at St. Richards Catholic Church, 7540 Penn Ave S., Richfield, MN June 1st to visit, tell stories and celebrate Dorothy's life. Visitation at 10:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow. Memorials can be given in Dorothy's memory to Ecumen Hospice of North Branch or Hospice of the Twin Cities.
