Obituary of Wayne Waldo Weisz

Age 77, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. He was born on April 7, 1938 at home near Leola, SD to Samuel and Claudia Weisz. Wayne is preceded in death by parents; sister, Florence and nephews, Kevin and Stephen Weisz. He is survived by former spouse, Jeanette; children, Bradley (Tricia) of Blaine, Tracy (Walter) McDonell of San Jose, CA, Kelly (Rick) Witthus of Victoria and Mark (Janice) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew and Michael Witthus, Mandy and Lucas McDonell; brothers, Earl, Ken and Stan Weisz; sister, Priscilla Kungel as well as many nieces and nephews. Wayne was raised on a farm in Leola, SD and was the first in his family to graduate from college. He graduated from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD in 1961. Wayne was an outstanding athlete, especially in track and an avid sports fan. He began his career as a high school teacher in White River, SD. He continued his teaching in Sarles, ND and then moved to Aberdeen, SD in 1962 to begin his long career as a book salesman for McGraw-Hill. In 1965 he moved with his family to Edina to continue his career with McGraw-Hill. After 18 years, Wayne left McGraw-Hill to begin his career as a stock broker, which he retired from. Wayne could often be found at Gopher basketball games or out on the golf course. His coaching and teaching skills were shared with youth and within his professions. Wayne volunteered his time with Shriners Hospitals and The Starkey Hearing Foundation. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family and friends. He made and developed many friendships over his lifetime with his positive, bubbly and inviting personality. His children and grandchildren were dear to his heart, making him a proud father and grandfather. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S, Edina, MN on Jan. 29th, 2016 at 730 PM with visitation beginning at 630 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Shriners Hospitals.
