Obituary of Roy I Clark

Roy I. Clark, 91, lifelong resident of Lakewood Township passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born on October 23, 1924 in Scanlon, Minn. to Clyde and Mary Clark. Roy attended the old wooden school in Scanlon and Cloquet High School. He married Betty Jane Zeigler on April 1, 1963 in Sisseton, S.D. Roy served in the U.S. Navy Seabees on many islands in the South Pacific including one and a half years on Guadalcanal. He worked at the N.W. Paper Co. for eight years and was a self-employed wholesale produce dealer and trucker for many years. Roy retired in 2004 after 26 years as a Tour Bus driver for Minnesota Coaches, traveling in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He was a member of the Cloquet American Legion, a lifetime member of the Carlton V.F.W. and Teamsters #346. He loved outdoor sports and riding bike on Munger Trail. Roy was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane Clark in 2015; his parents; brothers Stanley, Clarence and Clyde, Jr.; and sisters Helen Polish and Dorothy Kemposki. He is survived by daughters Kathy (Richard Greenman) Clark of Duluth and Cynthia (Brent) Butler of Overland Park, Kan.; stepson Eugene (Cindy) Halvorson of Duluth; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Miranda Clark, and Samantha and Levi Raihla; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m. Military Honor Guard presentation, Saturday, Feb. 20, at Lakewood Town Hall, 3110 Strand Road.
