Obituary of Sidney Warren Schmidt

Sidney Warren Schmidt, 84, of Two Harbors passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 Sidney was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Oklahoma to Waldo and Nettie Schmidt. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart Carol Pasquesi in 1952. Sidney had a long military career starting in the Air Force. He retired after 20 years to work for the Treasury and Army Corp of Engineers, a career lasting 37 years. Sidney was known for his gentle soul. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching and reading westerns, and tinkering in the garage. Sidney is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Roger and Richard. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years years Carol; daughter Sue Vaughn; sons Gary, Kevin (Mary), and Randy Schmidt; grandchildren Melanie (Scott) Ross, Nicole Schmidt (Kenny), and Eric Schmidt; great-grandchildren Sydney (Lucas), Spencer, and Stockton; who brought sunshine to his life; and siblings Kenneth (Linda) and Sharon. VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass on Tuesday, March 1, in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.
