Obituary of Lillian Viola Lindberg
Lillian Viola Lindberg, 95, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Lillian was born in Gackle, N.D., on April 2, 1920 to Joe and Hillia (Wirkkunen) Pitkanen.
She was the last survivor of seven brothers and sisters. As described by Lillian, she was a misplaced farm girl who raised three kids on her own. The family lived in the Lake Minnetonka/Mound area. Later on Lillian moved to Duluth where she married Al Lindberg. Lillian thoroughly enjoyed life. She loved the creative side of things, spending countless hours crocheting and knitting. Lillian also had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be fondly remembered for her kind and compassionate nature.
She is preceded in death by her husband Al; her parents and seven siblings.
Lillian is survived by her daughter Valorie Velasquez of Denver, Colo.; sons, William (Claire) Lindquist of Soiux Falls, S.D., and Bradley Lindquist of Duluth; grandchildren, Barry Skutevik, Kristen (Mark) Wethington, Mark (Brandy) Lindquist, Alan (Jennifer) Skutevik, Shannon (Laura) Lindquist-Dulin and Christy Mann; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Wethington, Dorthea and Loretta Lindquist and Seren Lindquist-Dulin as well as many extended family members and friends.
VISITATION: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 in First Memorial Funeral Chapel 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery Superior, Wis. First Memorial Funeral Chapel 218-624-5050.
