Obituary of Ray Meysman

Ray Meysman passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family who loved him and will miss him like crazy. Ray was born Raymond Philip Meysman on March 29, 1948 to Philip and Elizabeth (Hudacek) Meysman in Superior. Ray was the oldest of nine children and the leader of the pack. After graduating from Cathedral High School in Superior, he entered the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War in the D BTRY 3/13 ARTY 25th Infantry Division. He was a decorated soldier and received a Bronze Star. After his service, Ray was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad and worked with his dad with the Meysman Accounting and Tax Service. Ray retired from the railroad in 2009 and enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, afternoon card games and having a few beers at the Village Lanes and Club 35. Ray bowled in the Tuesday Senior League and Thursday Nite All Parish League and golfed in leagues at Pattison Park Golf Course and enjoyed the annual family BS Tournament (Brothers & Sisters) which was a favorite. Ray was preceded in death by this father, Philip. He is survived by his son Cal Gould (Knickerson, Minn.); his mother Betty; his brothers Dan (Superior), Ken (Poplar) Jim (Superior), Jerry (Superior); sisters Cathy Meysman (Superior), Vicky (Gary) Schold, (Superior), Patty (Dick) Lier, (South Range), Julie Meysman (Superior); nieces Darla Meysman -Johnson, Jordan Wigfall, Lindsey Schold, Hannah and Callie Lier; nephew Derek Schold and a great many friends. In lieu of flowers, Ray would like you to donate to the Bong American Legion Post 435 Color Guard, 305 Harbor View Pkwy, Superior. 218-348-0635 Denny Bee. The donations will help the all volunteer Color Guard with expenses for future veterans' funerals. Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service for Ray on Thursday, March 10 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior with a lunch to follow at the Village Lanes.
