Obituary of Maxine Marie Wittenberg
Maxine Marie Wittenberg (Stadem), 73, of Gonvick MN, passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine MN on Sunday, March 6th, 2016 from a long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
Born July 3, 1942 in Murdo, SD, Maxine grew up in a large family. She graduated high school in 1960 from Shakopee High School. Maxine met her husband, Vern, while she was working at “The Tri-Y” Drive In. She and Vern were married on May 14th, 1960.
In November of 1960, Maxine and Vern had their first of three sons, Dick. Followed by Danny in October of 1962, and Vern Jr. in June of 1981.
Over the years, Maxine held a number of interesting jobs, including working as a dispatcher & correction officer for Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office. Maxine & Vern also started a chain of Video stores together.
Maxine loved to travel, sing, dance, and play cards. She and Vern cherished their vacations with their children and grandchildren. .
Maxine is survived by her children: Dick, Danny (Shelly), & Vern Jr (Kari); her grandchildren: Leah, Cole, Cameron, Connor, Peyton, and great-grandson Hudson; Brothers and Sisters: Alinor (Robert) Olson of Horace ND, Carol (Sid) Haug of Richfield MN, Mary (Tom) Stark of Turtle Lake WI, Richard Dean (Cindi) Stadem of Apple Valley MN, Sara (Jim) Heim of St. Cloud MN, Steve (Teresa) Stadem of Eden Prairie MN, & Mark (Patti) Stadem of Bloomington MN. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Vern Wittenberg; her parents Margaret & Peter Gordon Stadem; her brother Robert Stadem (formerly of Chaska MN), and her daughter-in-law, Deb Wittenberg (formerly of St. Hiliare, MN).
A memorial service will be held in Maxine’s honor later this summer, with her Eternal Resting Place to be at the Wittenberg Farm by her husband’s side.
