Obituary of William A. Huntley

William A. Huntley, age 92, of Eden Prairie, passed away May 30, 2018. Bill grew up in Hill City, MN and enlisted in the Navy upon high school graduation in 1943. He served aboard the USS Zuni in the south Pacific supporting operations at Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima. He married Elizabeth Buchanan of Mpls. in 1948 and graduated from Macalester College in 1949. Bill began his sales career with 3M and later was a sales rep for Bro-Dart and Ebsco. Bill and Liz moved to Palestine, TX in 1994 where he continued working for Auto Zone and later Walmart, becoming known as "Mr. Bill." He was a member of the Christian Science Church and was a church soloist for many years in St. Paul and Excelsior. Bill always put his family and others first and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Preceded by wife of 58 years, Elizabeth, and brothers Robert & Philip. Survived by sons David (Bev), Robert (Beth), Bill Jr. (Christine); daughter Carol (Wade Wolfe); 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Thanks to the staff at MN Masonic Home for their attentive care. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials to First Church of Christ Scientist, Excelsior, or donor's choice.
