Obituary of H. Gordon Schwacke
Schwacke, H. Gordon Age 94 of Victoria, MN, passed away March 8th, 2016 at Auburn Meadows, in Waconia. Gordy was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to Harry William and Johanna Grimm Schwacke. He left New Jersey to join the US Army Air Corps during WWII as a cryptographer stationed in Anchorage and the Aleutian Islands, AK. Following the war, he attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH on the GI Bill, where he met his wife of 69 years, Dusty (Ruth). They married and moved to Milwaukee in August of 1947, where he worked for many years at AO Smith Corporation. After retiring, Gordy & Dusty moved to Rochester, MN and later, Victoria, MN to be closer to their children. He was a member of the Dairyland Theater Organ Society, hosted many guests from the International Institute of Milwaukee, and had a great interest in trains. He volunteered at the Mayo Clinic, the Waconia Ridgeview Clinic and the Carver Scott Historical Society, MN. He was very social and always had a story to share. Gordy is survived by his wife Dusty Schwacke; son, Kurt (Karen) Schwacke of Waconia; daughter, Laura (Jon) Trantham of Chan-hassen; grandsons Jared Schwacke & Caleb Trantham. In Gordon's memory, the family requests donations be given to the Carver Historical Society in Waconia.
