Dean Genson

Obituary of Dean M Genson

Dean M. Genson died at his home in Springbrook, Wis., on March 16, 2016 at the age of 73. Dean was born to Kathryn and Manning Genson in Rice Lake, Wis., on Feb. 12, 1943. Dean grew up in Spooner, Wis., with three brothers and a beloved sister. He was married to Arlene, on Dec. 2, 1966. Together they had five children and two grandchildren. Dean spent some time in the Military, but for most of his life was devoted to working hard to care for his family. In 1973 Dean became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and continued to make efforts to encourage others that shared his faith throughout his life. Dean felt a special connection with many people who shared similar life experiences and he was moved to help them make positive changes in their lives. At times this included sharing with them the hope that the Bible holds out for the future. Dean will be remembered fondly by his family and so many friends as a loving, generous person. While being a man of few words, he was thoughtful, giving, and loved hugs. The outdoors was where Dean felt most at home. Hunting, fishing, boating, kayaking, taking a walk in the woods and wildlife were all his passions. When he chose to talk, these were his favorite topics. Dean is survived by his wife of 49 years, Arlene; five children: Erin Sanko (Cory), Ingrid Sutherland, Patrick (Wendy), Britta Cummins (Cameron), Jesse (Penny) and two incredible grandchildren Grey and Raina Sutherland (Clint), as well as his four siblings Jerry (MaryAnn), Barry (Sue), Marilyn Gunderson (Tim), Les (Sharon), and their families. VISITATION: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, March 26, in the Hayward High School auditorium, 10320 N Greenwood Ln, Hayward, Wis. All who knew Dean are invited to share in this opportunity to remember him and grieve our loss together.
