Obituary of Laura La Barre Fry
Laura La Barre Fry, of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away on March 24, 2016. Laura’s spirit and determination to be with her twin boys Riley and Elias was immense, enabling her to battle cancer for over two years to be able to watch those boys talk and walk and run and dance. She may be gone from our sight, but she will be in our minds and hearts forever. She will be terribly missed by her husband Richard and the lights of her life Riley and Elias; her parents Gary and Barbara La Barre; sisters Wendy (John) and Kathryn; Aunt Barb and Uncle Mart Diana; in-laws Dick Fry and Linda Kline, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Laura was born June 25, 1964 in Dover, Delaware. An Air Force “brat”, she spent time in Pennsylvania, Florida, Germany and Virginia before settling down with her family in Tulsa, OK. In 1987 she graduated from the University of Oklahoma and began a 26-year career as a Physical Therapist working in Pennsylvania, Colorado, Oregon, and Minnesota. Laura’s favorite part of work was meeting new people, getting to know them, hearing their life stories, and ultimately helping them back to health. Portland, Oregon was Laura’s dream location…beautiful, mountainous, liberal, environmentally conscious. However love can make you do funny things, like move to Minnesota, or learn to play golf. In 2013 Laura and Rich were blessed by the birth of their beautiful sons.
Please try to use this time to celebrate Laura. As a person, a woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a friend. As a physical therapist, an environmentalist, a music lover (Phish), an animal lover, a golfer and skier, and let’s not forget, as a mom. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Laura’s name to Southwest Metro Animal Rescue: www.swmetroanimalrescue.org.
There will be 2 celebrations of Laura’s life to ensure all those touched by her will have an opportunity to share stories and say goodbye.
The Minneapolis celebration will be held from 2-5pm on Friday April 8 at The Cremation Society of MN, Edina, 7110 France Ave S, Edina, Minnesota 55435.
