Obituary of Hilda Marie Pridgeon
Hilda Marie Benjamin Pridgeon, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, age 90, of Bloomington, Minnesota, died in her sleep on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Preceded in death by Mother Rena Benjamin (Wilson), and Father William Henry Benjamin, sisters, Mary (Benjamin) Ford (Ralph), Ruth (Benjamin) Krieg (Emerson), Maude (Benjamin) Gilmore (Wayne); nephew. William Krieg (Jaci); and husband, Alfred J. Pridgeon. Survived by her children, Marsha Ann Babcock (Jerry), Mark Alan Pridgeon and Ryan Scott Pridgeon (Lisa); grandchildren, Joshua Pridgeon (Jeni), Jacob Pridgeon (Miranda) and Lauren Pridgeon; and great-granddaughter, Ripley. Hilda was active in her community, her church, Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, and family. Hilda worked at Control Data, and when her husband, Al was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 50, Hilda went to Metropolitan University to earn her Bachelor of Science degree, while working full time and raising three children. Also, at this time, Hilda met four other women that felt a need to begin the Alzheimer's Association in Bloomington, Minnesota. Control Data had a special program to allow Control Data employees to get a year off with pay to help people in the community in some way. Beginning the Alzheimer's Association started in Hilda Pridgeon's house in Bloomington. She received help in mailing, fax machine was given to her, and other support from Control Data. After several years, Hilda became one of the founders of the National Alzheimer's Association and stayed involved for 16 more years on the National Board. Church was a big part of Hilda's life. She was a long time member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. She was an deacon, elder, Clerk of Session and Treasurer. She also served as the chairperson of Stewardship Committee and sang in the choir. A Memorial Service will be at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church at 2200 Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington. A viewing of pictures & conversation with family and friends at 1:00 pm. The Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm. Cremains buried at Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington, Minnesota on Monday, April 18, 2016 for family only.
