Obituary of David E. Palmquist
David E. Palmquist, 66, of Duluth, surrounded by loved ones, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 4th, 2018, at Solvay Hospice House, after suffering prolonged complications and cancer due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam.
David was born August 21, 1951. He joined the U.S. Army November 1970, serving his country, becoming a Crew Chief for a "Dust-off" helicopter unit in Vietnam, retrieving and transporting the wounded from the battlefield.
David retired from Conservation Services Group where he worked as a Senior Technical Field Representative.
David was a kind, honorable and generous man who touched the lives of everyone he met in a positive way. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He was loved by a great many and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Dorothy Palmquist; brother, Al Palmquist; and sister, Adelle Ropelis.
David is survived by his son, David E. Palmquist II, of Alaska; brother, Paul Ropelis; and sister, Cecilia Ropelis; along with many close cousins from the Fulda and Ostrom families.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 followed by an 11 a.m. Service at Alliance Community Church, 2621 W Arrowhead Rd, Duluth, MN.
