Obituary of Barbara G. Michael

Barbara G. Michael Barbara was born on April 4th, 1927 and joined our Lord in Heaven on April 5th, 2016 in the company of good friends and family. She grew up in Edina, MN. and graduated from West High School before continuing on to receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. While attending There she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She worked as an interior designer in Wayzata, taught at Blake school for many years, both before and after having a family. She eventually became a partner in the Gold Mine Antiques in Wayzata in 1976 which was a true passion of hers for the rest of her life. While living most of her life in Minnesota, She traveled the world extensively and made many life-long friends abroad in Europe and S. America. She enjoyed skiing, tennis, convertibles and gardening. She filled her life with volunteer work with the Minneapolis Junior League, The Minneapolis Art institute, and was a member of several book clubs. Those who knew her would tell you she had a flair for decorating, antiques, flowers and gardening and impeccable style. Barbara was preceded to Heaven by her parents Mr. Edwin Gutch and his wife Leora Whitney, Husband Joe Michael, and Sister Patricia Gerberding. She is survived by Son Thomas Maxwell and wife Hye Sul, grandchildren Christopher and Jessica, Stepchildren Cynthia Michael Foster, Stephen Michael, Margaret Michael McHugh, John Michael, Melissa Michael Gregerson, Sister Mary Ann Morgan,and her husband Earl as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara passed on after a long battle with COPD, which she faced with dignity and grace, and fought with an iron will and never complained. She was an extremely loyal friend and listener, a woman of strong faith and a voracious reader. She enjoyed entertaining with friends and will be missed terribly. Services will be held at: Trinity Episcopal Church at 322 Second Street Excelsior, MN. 55331 on the 23rd of April, 2016 at 1000.
