Obituary of Thomas J Riley

Thomas J. Riley, 83, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Essentia Health. Tom was born in Young America, Minn., June 30, 1932, to Thomas S. and Delphine (Stoltz) Riley. He graduated from Floodwood High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Marines a short time later. Serving honorably during the Korean War, Tom held his service in high regard. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Blackwood June 8, 1957. Tom was a very avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time on Prairie Lake, raising his dogs, reading and most importantly spending time with his family. He was also a lifelong blood donor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert. Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn; sons Patrick (Larisa) and Thomas (Evelyn) Riley; grandchildren Nicholas and Michael; brother Michael Riley; sister Susan Poupore; and many nieces and nephews. A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. Military Honors will be provided by the Duluth Honor Guard.
