Obituary of Helen K. Holmquist
Helen K. Holmquist, 78, of Duluth passed away April 13, 2016, from lung disease.
She was born June 9, 1937.
Helen was a devoted wife of 60 years, to Gerald Holmquist. They were married Feb. 11, 1956, in Sterling, Ill.
Helen was a very loving person. She had a heart of gold. Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog Gizmo.
Throughout her life Helen enjoyed playing bingo, going to the cabin, crossword puzzles, flowers and watching birds. Helen worked in the late 50's at the J&A and then Shopper City as a grocery clerk until they closed their doors. Her best memories, besides her family, were the good old days that she spent on 51st.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Allison Anscomb and Walton Edblad; brother, Ron Edblad; daughter, Barbie; and granddaughter, Krist Jo.
Helen is survived by her husband, Gerald Holmquist: sons, Wesley (Peg), and Curtis; daughters, Sheryl "Sis" Hack, Jeri (Keith) Erickson, Toni (Gary) Huelskamp, and Heidi (Joe Curtis); 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her dog Gizmo; and adopted daughter, Kathy Messenger; three siblings, Elaine Larson, Nancy Platzer and Bev Wahlstrom.
VISITATION: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, until the 2 p.m. service in United Protestant Church, 830 88th Ave W., Morgan Park.
