Obituary of Wesley F. Hasbrouck

Wesley F. Hasbrouck, age 92 from Rosemount, passed away on January 10, 2025. Wes was born June 18, 1932 to Reverend David and Nellora Hasbrouck in Quincy, Illinois. As the son of a Methodist minister, Wes lived in numerous cities throughout Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York during his early years. Wes graduated from Oil City High School in Pennsylvania in 1951. Following high school, he joined the Navy and served aboard several aircraft carriers until his honorable discharge in 1956.

In 1959, Wes graduated from Penn State with a degree in Electrical Technology. He began his career with Brockway Glass in PA and was later sent to several other plants in NJ, PA, IN and MN to assist in setting up automated inspection systems.

While working at Brockway Glass in Rosemount, Wes met Joan Uitdenbogerd. They were married on October 5, 1963, at the Rosemount United Methodist Church. Wes and Joan began their married life in PA but moved back to Rosemount after 18 months. There, they settled down and raised their three children: Lynda, Nancy and Cindy. Joan passed away in 1997, and five years later, Wes married Janice “Anne” Hotchkiss. Sadly, Anne passed away in 2008.

Wes worked at Sperry Univac/Unisys for 24 years and also held part- time jobs at Buck Hill, Lampert’s Lumberyard and as a school bus driver for School District 196. After his retirement from Unisys in 1989, he continued driving school bus full-time until 1997.

Wes was a lifelong member of the Rosemount United Methodist Church, now known as The Well. In his retirement years, he remained actively involved by assisting with projects at the church parsonage. He generously donated many gallons of blood to the Red Cross, sang in three choirs (church choir, Velvet Tones and the Eagan Men’s Choir), and participated in four mission trips to Haiti. Additionally, Wes volunteered as a driver for both the Red Cross and GAPP Transportation, demonstrating his commitment to helping others.

Wes’s hobbies included remodeling projects in his home, singing, camping, reading, genealogy, Bible Studies and traveling.
