Obituary of Walter Bernard Brune

Walter Bernard Brune passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City, MN. He is now alive and well with his Lord, his wife, and previously departed loved ones. Walter has been a loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and ultimately a friend to those around him. He enjoyed helping others in whatever was needed and was active in his local Lutheran Church and multiple charities providing nourishment to body and soul. Walter was born on February 11, 1932 as the eldest son of the late Edwin and Adena (Kraudy) Brune in Steele County, MN. Walter was an MP in Korea in the US Army where he earned multiple Service Medals. He was also a farmer, auto mechanic, miner, truck driver, handyman (building his own homes), Sunday School teacher and Youth leader, and Street Commissioner. Walter and Lorraine raised their family in Hinckley, MN and Aurora, MN and retired in 1994. Dad taught us how to give, work, and live. Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine (Workman) in 2006. Walter is survived by his sons Mark (Rita) of Hinckley, Aaron (Barbara) of Fort Wayne, IN, and Stephen of Hinckley; brothers Earnest and Dennis; sisters Darlene, Donna, and Bonnie; along with 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a large close-knit family; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Hinckley, MN on April 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm with internment following at Lutheran Memorial Cemetery of Hinckley. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church of Hinckley or to the local food shelf.
