Obituary of Warren Elwood Emmons
Warren departed this world on December 16, 2024 at 10:55 p.m. to embark on his next great adventure. Born November 19, 1932 in Albert Lea, MN, Warren was the fifth of six children born to Lawrence J. “Cap” Emmons and Clarette “Kelly” (Sanden) Emmons. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Ardath and Gerald “Bub” Emmons, and sisters Helen (George) Spell and Carol “Kie” (Jimmie) Lockhart. He is survived by his husband and partner of 51 years, Ronald Bendixen, and his younger sister Carmen (Dick) Higashi, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Warren graduated from Albert Lea High School n 1951. He spent two years in the US Navy and graduated from the University of Dubuque in 1959 with a degree in Chemistry. He worked several jobs as a chemist before returning to school and becoming a certified medical technologist. He worked as a med tech for 45 years, beginning at Eitel Hospital and later at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital (after Eitel was acquired by Abbott). His goal was to match his father’s work record by working the same job for 45 years. He achieved his goal and retired in 2011 at the age of 79 years.
Warren enjoyed opera, classical music, live theater and anything involving electronics. He and Ron loved the beauty of nature and spent many weekends and vacations camping and hiking in Minnesota and Michigan.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley or the Emmons Family Scholarship Fund at the University of Dubuque.
