Obituary of Paul Joseph Gross
Paul Joseph Gross
Age: 79
Of Aitkin, on Spirit Lake
Passed away: December 14, 2024
Paul was born on April 6, 1945 to Gladys and Paul Gross in Columbia Heights, MN. He spent nearly 50 years living on Spirit Lake in Aitkin, MN. After many years of battling heart issues, Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Abbott Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard (Joyce); and beloved wife, Marilyn (Lumppio) whom he was married to for 53 years.
Paul is survived by his brother, Jim Gross (Barb) of Ham Lake; his two daughters: Michele Juneski of Blaine, Suzanne LaValle (Robb) of Ham Lake; grandchildren: Rylee, Alex J (Lanaiah), Taylor, Codie (Austin) , Alex L (Kelsey) and Andrew (Preston); and great grandchildren: Robert, Reed, Murphy, Madden, Tatum, along with many nieces and nephews.
Paul loved spending time with his family and friends, riding anything with a motor— including: motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats and four wheelers. He was a mentor for many young men, and was always willing to teach important life skills. He proudly raised his daughters to be hard workers & lived by the phrase, “If you want to play, you gotta pay!”.
Paul was a talented, hard worker and was notably skilled at brick, tile and stone work. You could always find him tinkering in the garage, fishing, sitting at the bar downstairs blasting his music or watching a western movie in his favorite chair. Paul prided himself on his salesman ability and was the local firearms dealer for everyone he knew.
He had an open door policy at his home, and loved having his friends and family drop by at any time of day for happy hour. He cherished the time he spent with his buddies, and was always the life of the party. His laugh and smile were contagious and his personality was big enough to fill the entire room.
Paul was a wonderful dad, brother, grandpa and friend. He left a lasting impression and will be remembered forever. His legacy lives on through all the lives he touched and connections he made.
Paul was a proud member of The Moose Lodge and a celebration of life will be held there later this spring.
