Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Dunn

Elizabeth Ann Dunn, aged 100, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. Born on February 7, 1924, Betty lived a life filled with friends, family, and lots of love.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Cypha Breed, her siblings Esther and Ted Breed, and her loving husbands, Joseph Robert Long and Jack LaShay Dunn. She leaves behind a legacy of family including son Gregory Long (Scott Newman), daughter Barbara (Jack) Nichols, and stepson Jack (Kim) Dunn II. Her grandchildren, Laura (Jake) Endres, Brett Nichols (Megan Scott), and Sarah (Matt) Berg, along with her great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Adelaide, Gavia, Cecilia, Elizabeth, Gabriel, and one on the way, will miss her deeply.

Betty taught elementary school in Edina, including a year teaching in Saudi Arabia. She was a world traveler, an avid reader, and a life-long learner. She loved hosting parties, swimming, and had great skill in sewing, needlepoint, and quilting.  She was an active volunteer with her church and a longtime resident of Point Drive in Edina and Girard Park in Bloomington, where she lived alone in her own apartment until a few weeks before her death.

She had a great interest in American history and her own genealogy as a Daughter of the American Revolution.  She was a 13th generation American in a family line begun by Alan Breed, who emigrated to Massachusetts in 1630.
