Obituary of Tami King

Tami (Menke) King, 66, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2024 of Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by two sons she adored - Bob Crane of St. Paul and Clayton Hedenland of White Bear Lake. Tami is also survived by siblings Mary Traxler, Shelley (Dave) Norden, Don (Marsha) Menke and Lisa (Chris) Williams as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Tami was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dave King and her siblings Robin, Robert and Patty.

Tami was born July 26, 1958. She grew up near and graduated high school in Lakeville, MN, then joined the U.S. Army where she proudly served her country in Radio Operations in Germany. In addition to their military responsibilities, she and her army colleagues made the most of their time in Europe - exploring many countries and making friends and memories along the way.

Tami had a stellar career as an administrative assistant to a number of executives around the twin cities – contributing to the success of companies such as Target, CH Robinson, and Grant Thornton.

After retiring in 2009, Tami and her husband Dave moved up to Cumberland, WI, where they managed a couple of lake cabin rental properties, helped out at a family campground and always enjoyed entertaining their many visiting friends and family! Tami loved long walks, watching the wildlife and volunteering in her community.

More recently Tami moved to McKenna Crossing Senior Living in Prior Lake where she was an active and much-loved member of the community. She was often “on-duty” in the reception area – welcoming visitors and helping wherever needed. Tami will especially be remembered for her kind, generous and loving nature - always wanting to make people’s day a little brighter.

A special thank you to the amazing staffs at McKenna Crossing, Optage Hospice and InHom Senior Care for the wonderful care they all provided to our beloved sister and mother.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
