My condolences to Joan's family. My mom, Carole Kenny, was a long time friend of Joan's. Joan, Bonnie, Lucy and my mom were the members of the String-a-longs, that wonderful guitar quartet they formed. They played at various senior facilities for years. Wednesday afternoons, long after they stopped playing, they would still get together for "Guitar" for over 40 years. When Lucy needed to enter a care facility, they wanted to make sure that she would have transportation so she could continue to join them. Even after Joan moved to Summit, I would pick up Joan and Bonnie to bring them to my mom's for lunch every so often so the Guitar Ladies could continue! I was surprised to learn that after she accepted an invitation to my mon's 92nd birthday brunch, that she had been moved to memory care and wouldn't be coming.
