Obituary of Ruth Johanna Kelman

Ruth Johanna Kelman ( Ruthie) died peacefully at home on October 25, 2024 just two weeks shy of her 102nd birthday.

She was born on November 7, 1922 to Hugo and Margaret Wilke in Mantorville Township. She had 3 brothers. After high school, she bravely moved from the farm to Minneapolis to attend beauty school. She worked as a beautician until she married Jerry Kelman in 1946. They had 4 children, Wayne, Roxanne, Suzanne, and Julianne. She was a wonderful friend, mom and grandma. She liked crosswords, knitting, crotcheting, dancing, and a fishing trip. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry; son Wayne; daughter Roxanne; brothers Leonard (Ruth), Harold (Marilyn) and Harry; in-laws Morrie (Grace) Malin and Larry (Louise) Kelman; son in-law David Johnson and niece, Wendy Kline.

She is survived by daughters Suzanne Ford Johnson and Julianne (Daniel) Martin; grandchildren Sunny, Makenzie, Taylor (Alethea), Alison, Benjamin, Jenny, Scott, and Neely; 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
