Obituary of Nadine Lujan
Nadine Lujan, a beacon of brightness and compassion, was born on September 12, 1972, and passed away on October 18, 2024. Nadine's kind spirit and radiant smile will be remembered fondly by her beloved husband, Brice Duffy, who survives her today. She was predeceased by her cherished grandparents, Peter and Margret Lujan.
Known for her love for all things culinary, her favorites were anything involving eggs and tortillas. She found simple pleasure in sipping on coffee or Diet Coke, while grooving to the infectious rhythms of Gipsy Kings, Santana, Los Lobos, and the soulful sounds of Aretha Franklin. Films like "To Kill a Mockingbird" touched her deeply, and she reveled in friendly competition during games of Trivial Pursuit.
Nadine was passionate about animal rescue, particularly for dogs and cats, exhibiting her caring and compassionate nature. Her favorite color, blue, was a reflection of her cheerful and intelligent personality, as vast and welcoming as the sky.
She was a wise woman, who shared the beautiful mantra of being nice to everyone, with the hope that they leave feeling better than they came in. This was the essence of Nadine.
Some of Nadine's greatest accomplishments resided in the hundreds of battered women and children she was able to comfort during their darkest times. She also championed for the elderly who suffered from physical or financial abuse. Her work in these areas speaks volumes about her caring and compassionate character.
Nadine's legacy will be the brilliant smile that could brighten any room she entered. Regardless of her own discomfort or hardship, she maintained a positive attitude that was infectious. People were naturally drawn to her, often sharing conversations with her at various places like the local store, YMCA, or bookstore. Nadine was a talker, someone people viewed as a safe haven, a testament to the warmth and kindness she radiated.
In our hearts, Nadine will forever remain a symbol of strength, compassion, and pure joy. Her life was a testament to the beauty of selflessness and the power of a kind heart.
Nadine didn’t want a funeral or memorial service. A dream of hers was to someday be able to buy a hobby farm and rescue all the dogs and cats we could. All of our pets, five dogs and two cats have been rescues. Xena our German Shepherd who we adopted almost three years ago to the day came from Saving Shepherds of MN.
It would be great if you could make a small donation to Saving Shepherds in Nadine’s memory.
