Obituary of Charles Norton Bursch
Charles “Chuck” Norton Bursch of Burnsville, aged 78, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Chuck Bursch was born in Osceola, Wisconsin on July 4, 1946. He was the only child of Elizabeth “Betty” and Norton Bursch of Lindstrom, Minnesota.
Chuck grew up on his parents’ small farm where they raised livestock including chickens and sheep, which Chuck showed in 4H, and grew crops ranging from strawberries to corn. Chuck graduated from Lindstrom-Center City High School in 1964 and attended the University of Minnesota. He then enrolled at Control Data Institute and went on to work at Control Data. In 1966, he married Audrey Novatney.
During the Vietnam War, Chuck enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Turkey and Ethiopia during his time in service. After the war, he worked at ADP, and later IBM. He also built his own company, Data Dynamics, which took him all over the state installing and maintaining cash register systems at Bridgeman’s restaurants.
Chuck loved music and played drums in multiple bands in his younger years, from the Moon Dawgs to Max Bugsby.
Chuck took his family on many amazing vacations all over the world. Road trips all over the U.S. and Canada were a summer staple, and a trip to the United Kingdom in the summer of ‘98 was a favorite memory he and his family often reminisced about.
Chuck was a master craftsman who would not hesitate to help you with a home improvement project. He could finely craft anything out of wood, plumb your bathroom, or invent and fabricate a solution to any construction conundrum, he just needed to spend time contemplating it first. You could often find him staring at a potential project while he figured everything out in his head.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Norton Bursch.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Audrey of 57 years, his son Todd and wife Erin Bursch, his daughter Tina and her husband Mark Bobnick, along with two granddaughters, Olivia and Regan Bobnick.
