Obituary of Dorothy Eileen Brigan

Dorothy Eileen (McFall) Brigan, 89, of Finlayson passed away on April 22, 2016 at Mercy Health Care, Moose Lake. Dorothy was born on February 16, 1927 to George and Mareline McFall in Carlton, MN. She was the 7th of 13 children. Dorothy married Russell Brigan on July 20, 1946 in Carlton. Dorothy wore many hats throughout her life. As a young girl she delivered newspapers, worked at her grandma’s hotel and worked at Charlotte’s Café. Dorothy worked at Wood Conversion in Cloquet, US Postal carrier in Carlton and her and Russell had a dairy farm. She also was a 4-H leader, PTO President, Ladies Guild Secretary/Treasurer, cake decorator, school cook, homemaker, and loving mother to many. Dorothy helped raise the neighbor children and many nieces and nephews. Flowers and feeding the birds became Dorothy’s passion. Especially watching her orchids bloom. Dorothy loved to travel and visit relatives out of state. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell, her parents, six brothers Robert, George, Wally, Tom, Terry and Kenny, three sisters, MaryJane Ulsky, Frances Hallback and Janice Setala, and her foster grandson "Baby" Shawn. Dorothy is survived by her children Allan (Deb) of Finlayson, Stephen (Wanda) of Buffalo, Wyoming, Gloria of Cohassett, Mary (Wyatt) Lucht of Finlayson, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sisters Florence (Ernie) Strandberg of Cloquet, and Barbara (Lou) Hamilton of Washington, Michigan. Father Joseph Sirba will perform graveside services on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Finlayson.
